Banners were dropped over the Bank of America half marathon route in Chicago this morning calling out the bank for financing fossil fuels and funding the Atlanta Police Foundation (ATP). The ATP is currently paying for the destruction of the Weelaunee (South River) forest to build a much contested Cop City to practice urban warfare on unceded Muscogee homelands.
Bank of America has invested 232 billion dollars in fossil fuels since the 2016 Paris Climate Accord.
Bank of America put out a press release that included information on incorporating sustainable practices into the event to greenwash their brand. We showed up with banners and passed out fliers to racers to let them know exactly what Bank of America is financing- climate change, deforestation, and police terror.
